Site Security
Equipment at remote facilities is frequently not monitored visually. Equipping such sites with two-way remote access control and/or video cameras is a significant expense. Not only is video hardware required, software and a network connection for communications between the central security monitoring system and the remote site has to be procured. Consequently, video monitoring security for installations is frequently determined on a critical-need basis: the more important and/or crucial a location is, the more likely some level of security will be installed at the site.
But what about other locations that require security, both for the protection of the general public as well as for the security and safety of personnel and equipment? Fences and padlocks provide some very basic security, but this does not enable visual monitoring in the instance of catastrophic equipment failure or life-threatening situations.
Natis Solution
The Natis Secure Distribution Automation Platform (SDAP) is an alternative solution to these high-cost security systems. The SDAP can provide a secure, reliable, encrypted wireless system to carry the video stream between remote sites and the central security monitoring system. This enables immediate response in situations where security has been breached or personal safety is in jeopardy. In addition, the SDAP is able to carry other types of distribution automation traffic as needed. When using the flexible and scalable SDAP, low-cost video cameras and card access equipment can be added to the sites in the distribution feeder network to provide a highly cost-effective site security system.
